Born in Melbourne in 1941, my first ‘God-moment’ was when aged 7 in Second Grade at School, I suddenly knew I wanted to be an Artist and a Missionary. I loved Art, in fact all subjects and school in general and was considered to be ‘Academic’.

Aged 14 when I shared this with my Mother, she told be in no uncertain terms, that my path in life was to be married as soon as possible. Hopes dashed!
When the time came to leave School, I became a Nurse at the Alfred Hospital, eventually specialising in Operating Theatre Nursing. But all the time I felt like an Artist masquerading as a Nurse. I married as ordered and raised a family.

I had always had faith. A great gift, but wasn’t truly born again until I was 32 years old.
A few short years after that, our eldest child was diagnosed with bone cancer and died aged 12. This tragic event triggered my resolve to finally do something about my original calling, so I began painting. Once my youngest child was at Primary School, I enrolled to study Fine Arts at UTAS. I was 47 years old. My painting friends were horrified, but I knew I had to do it. I wanted to learn how to express my faith through artworks.

After graduating, I became an Art Teacher at Calvin Secondary School in Kingston. It was there that I learned how to ‘think on my feet’ and to share the things of God with my students. Facing a couple of hundred teenagers a year, was a ‘grow up’ time!

When I retired, I finally could fully pursue my original calling. I produced large artworks, which I called ‘Mobile Murals’, to invite conversations about Jesus and what he has done for us. I published two coffee table style ‘God-Art’ books and also produced a Children’s Book.

I decided to go to Mind, Body, Spirit, New Age Expos to set up what I called ‘Jesus Spaces.’
I would take a sample of the Artworks, and buy books to give away to seekers. I also gave away my ‘God-Art’ books. I loved sharing Jesus with all who came.

I also had several Exhibitions interstate and also here in Hobart, the last Solo Exhibition being in the Long Gallery in 2015. Since then my works have been placed in Churches of varying Denominations and my work has been hanging in St David’s Cathedral since then. (Together with a few friends, I manned St David’s for several years prior to Covid, again to share with visitors, about what Jesus has done for us. It has been exciting and challenging, especially in Winter, when it is colder in there than outside!)

I am no longer painting, but still writing with a view to publishing another book. Topic? Our amazing Lord Jesus and his sacrificial love and compassion for the lost and marginalised.
